The Cottage

This modern 3 level lakefront home with a large number of windows and cathedral ceilings provides a very open bright atmosphere with over 2,000 square feet of interior living space. There are 4 bedrooms altogether with two bedrooms on the first floor, a large master bedroom on the second floor, and a smaller bedroom in the basement that has bunk beds for kids. The master bedroom has a recently updated ensuite bathroom which includes a seperate whirlpool tub and shower. A good size Birch table provides a comfortable eating area in the dining room and the adjoined kitchen is fully equipped. The spacious livingroom with cedar cathedral ceilings is a great place to relax and enjoy the great view of the lake. A large recreation room is available in the basement with a ping pong table. Both a wrap around deck which covers 2 1/2 sides of the cottage and a large patio are there to allow the enjoyment of the outdoors and provide a panoramic view of the lake. There is no need to rough it when you are enjoying the cottage life here.The cottage is full of amenities including a refrigerator, electric stove,dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer, gas BBQ, telephone and stereo/CD/VCR/DVD/satellite TV. A central Oil furnace provides heating in the winter and an efficient fireplace can give you that extra coziness and charm. Air conditioning is available for those sweltering hot summer days. Extras include a fire pit situated on the patio offering the warmth of a campfire on a cool night.Water is sourced through an underground well which is tested regularly to ensure safety. Waterfront

Steps and a nature path take you down from the patio to the lake. Situated on the water there is a large 16 x 16 foot floating dock with an easy access ladder making it excellent for swimming. A rowboat, canoe and kayak are provided as well as lifejackets and other equipment. Most of the shoreline drops off fairly quickly but a small sandy area near the dock could be used for toddlers.   The lake is 2 miles long and connects to a larger lake that can be navigated through for longer boat excursions. Although we are not avid fishermen a number of renters have been pleased with their success in fishing Grand or Dam lakes. A seperate contract can be possibly arranged if people want access to a motor for the rowboat.

Cottage Location

The cottage is located in the picturesque Outaouais region of Quebec only 1/2 hour,  39 km north of Ottawa, Ontario. With its close proximity to Ottawa it is very convenient for those who wish to be a tourist and enjoy the many sites and activities that exist in Canada's capital throughout the year. Check out the activities page and view the Ottawa or Gatineau tourism sites to gain an insight on the abundance of recreational and cultural activities the Capital offers.It is within 25 minutes to numerous golf and skiing centers.(Closest less than 20 minutes) The village of Perkins 10 minutes away provides shopping for food,videos,gas,propane,sports store,hardware store and some restaurants. Whatever your preference: hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, swimming, bird watching, star gazing, golfing , skiing or just relaxing, Dam Lake (and it's surrounding area) has it all.
